Open with a simple prayer of thanksgiving for daily divine mercies, acknowledging God’s mighty faithfulness, asking for His forgiveness and for His blessing as you gather.

Read a passage of Scripture. Consider Psalm 118, especially verses 19-29.

Sing a familiar hymn or song. Today you are invited to listen to or sing along with the musicians.

    2. A Shocking Revelation of Suffering, v. 22.
      1. The Sobering Prospect.
      2. The Sovereign Plan.
      3. The Saving Purpose.
      4. The Stupendous Prediction.

Spend time in discussion or reflection on what you heard.

  • How would you summarize the main lesson of this passage?
  • How would you answer the person who said, “If Jesus works for you, that’s great, but He’s not for me”?
  • Why does it make any difference what we think or believe about Jesus?
  • What is Peter saying about Jesus when he declares He is “the Christ of God”?
  • What did Peter and the rest of the disciples need to learn about Jesus’ mission?
  • Why was it “necessary” for Jesus to suffer, be rejected, killed, and raised up?
  • Who do you say that Jesus is?
  • How has that made a difference in your life?
  • What in this account made the greatest impression on you? What was most encouraging or
    helpful to you?
  • What, if anything, are you challenged to do on account of this passage?

Close with prayer, thanking God for His Word, asking Him to help you to understand, hold on to, and faithfully apply what you have heard.
